Let’s create an independent and accessible festival together
☘️ Who We Are
IRISH FILM FESTA is the festival created and directed by Susanna Pellis, and which, since 2007, has been bringing Irish cinema and culture to Rome: presenting new productions for audiences to preview, classics for them to rediscover, as well as shorts and documentaries to enjoy; providing students and professionals with the opportunity to compare notes, teach and learn; organising face-to-face encounters with directors, actors, scriptwriters, producers, and animators…
⚙️ What We Have Done
Over the years, IRISH FILM FESTA has screened more than 300 films, all in the original language (English or Irish) with Italian subtitles. It has welcomed over 130 filmmakers and artists from Ireland.
Admission has always been free, the venue the intimate and informal setting of Rome’s Casa del Cinema in Villa Borghese, in the very heart of the Eternal City. We have earned the esteem and support of the foremost Irish bodies that work to promote Irish cinema and culture abroad. IRISH FILM FESTA is a member of a network of festivals coordinated by the Irish Film Institute and, since 2020, our director, Susanna Pellis, is a full voting member of the IFTA – Irish Film & Television Academy.
➡️ What We Want for 2025
- To maintain our free-admission policy;
- To return to a 5-day schedule so as to be able to offer the public a valid, varied programme (including documentaries and short films, which are particularly important to us) and in the best possible setting;
- To enlarge the scope of our offer, not only during the festival, but also at other times of the year, and in collaboration with cultural bodies similar to ours;
- To bring Irish films to cities other than Rome (in 2024, we brought them to Florence and Trent).
